As 2016 comes to end, different people may have different feelings about 2016. The year may not have been so wonderful for some people and for others, it may have been a very good year with several accomplishments. There are people who may still be basking in the euphoria of the good things that happened to them and wish that it will continue that way forever. While for most of the people who did not have a very pleasant year, they may be in a hurry to move on to the next year. Whatever your experience during the year may have been, one thing that is certain is that 2016 is quickly ending and we are at the threshold of a new year- 2017.
As we are on the verge of entering a new year, what are your expectations for the year? Are you still concerned that your experiences (pleasant or unpleasant) of 2016 will continue into 2017? No matter what your expectations may be, it is good that we understand that God is dynamic and works in seasons. Your negative experiences do not mean that they will continue in the next year and the good experiences you had may not always be so all the time. The important thing is to always be in tune with God to understand what He wants you to do or what He is doing at any point in your life.
Perhaps you have decided that you will not expect so much in the new year to avoid some of the disappointments that you had in 2016 because your expectations were too high. I want to encourage you not to lose hope, dare to dream again. Do not let the setbacks you experienced prevent you from getting the things you desire or moving to where you want to be. It all begins with an expectation, it is your expectations that will cause faith to grow in your heart, and all you need for the manifestation of your desires is faith. Without an expectation, you will leave everything to chance, and you cannot receive anything from God without faith or an expectation. So, my friend, do all you can to dream again and have an expectation.
[Tweet “…be focused and consistent in all you do.”]
One of the things that you can do to have a good year in 2017 is to be focused and consistent in all you do. This entails setting your priorities right and planning for the things you want to achieve in the new year. You must be focused on those priorities as you go through the year because there will be a lot of distractions as the year progresses. But if you are focused on your goals, you will not drift or be derailed by other things that are not part of your priorities or goals for the year. Also, you must commit to be consistent in all that you are doing to achieve your goals. It takes consistency to achieve great feats so you should not be discouraged if you fail to reach your goals after the initial attempts. Some achievements may require consistent and repetitive actions, so do not get discouraged if it looks as if nothing is happening during the initial attempts. Always remember that it takes several strikes with a sledgehammer to break a rock. So, as you enter 2017, let focus and consistency be your watch words.
Above everything else, you must not forget to be grateful to God for keeping you through the entire year. No matter how bad the year may have been, you ought to thank God for everything because it could have been worse and know that God specializes in turning negative situations to work out for our good. In addition, thank God for a wonderful 2017 and expect it to be your best year ever!
